Hi Malissa,
I'm sorry it's been so long since I've talked with you.  Holly's doing wonderful.  She's absolutely a joy.  We love her dearly.  I'm attaching a couple of pictures, but as you know, it's difficult to capture how beautiful she is in a picture.  Hope you are all well and hope to talk with you soon.  Congrats on the new puppies!!!  Kim

Ruby Sue

Stayed at the house with Zeke and Toby (our two wonderful boys from Desert Bloom)
Boy did she hold her own playing and dodging the boys
when they got too rough.
When Toby tried to hump her - Abby knocked him off and backed him down.
It was an interesting 3 days until she was presented at a surprise party.
She sure brought Zeke out of his shell -
They are going to keep the name Ruby.
Love and God Bless
Maureen Collins

Hi Malissa

The boys are doing great! Spoiled of course as it should be.
Ruby has a 'big' Golden Retriever sister and she is well able to hold her own at play time.
God Bless

Hi Malissa,

Pandy (cocker Shih tzu hybrid) is just amazing and so much fun!  She loves to eat and she loves her food.  She is totally housebroken and she does well on a leash.  We walk early in the morning and she wants to stay out walking and lies down if she thinks we are going home.  She needs to chew on something. What do you suggest?
I just love her and look forward to see how big she gets.
Thanks, JoAnn

Hi there!

Just wanted to email some pics of Cali Girl (Jewel).  She is doing just great!  Already house trained and is making it through the night without any piddles!  She has been WONDERFUL!!!!  We are so lucky to have found you and if we EVER get another dog we will be taking a trip to AZ again!.

Cali Girl has been a blessing to our daughter especially.  Cali also loves going on bike rides!  Jonathan takes the kids and Cali in one of those bike trailers.  She just LOVES it…so cute.  She loves to play fetch and is totally in love with our Ragdoll cat … I think Cali is finally as big as her now.

Here are some pictures…she loves swinging with Lydia and going down the slide.

Take care…

Love,

The Marzluf Family

Hi Malissa,
It was great to see you too!  She has a name, 'Maisy'.  She did great on the ride home.  And she is truly the Amazing Maisy!  Wow, what a character.  The first night she was pretty quiet, very reserved.  Now she is a different dog.  She is leaping and bouncing around and doing all the typical cute and adorable puppy stuff.
The trio are getting along just fine...they are all going through a typical adjustment, Truffles and Chocolate sniffed her for about a two hours LOL, when she first arrived and then just went on...Now, of course as I had hoped, Truffles and Maisy are beginning a wonderful doggy/sister/friendship.  It's very funny, Maisy chases Truffles around the backyard, she is quite fast to be so small.  She darts around and sits up on her hind legs and then jumps.  They are having a ball. - they are a hoot.
I'll be in touch.
Best,
Ellen

Dear Malissa, I thought you'd like an update on Kobe (Japanese shishi spaniel)

He brings me so much pleasure and I am extremely fond of him.  He's about 12 lbs now and his coat is much lighter in colour.  He is very friendly with any type and size of dog but he is very wary of people (except me) and traffic.  He has progressed smoothly from puppy training classes to basic training classes and now he's doing advanced classes.  He can come, sit, down, stay, leave it, look at me, relax, roll over, shake hands, wave, dance, jump, fetch, spin and kiss.  We're currently working on hug, beg and clean up (ie picking up all his toys and putting them in his crate).

I've attached a recent photo.  It's a bit cheesy but very cute.

I will ring you one day.  I hope you and your family are well.  Thank you again for entrusting me with Kobe.

Elizabeth~ Washington D.C.

02/02/09 Malissa,
I wanted to provide an update on Etsu  (Japanese ShiShi Spaniel). You may remember that Matthew and I traveled from Colorado to Mesa, AZ, in one day to pick up Etsu. See, I fell in love with Etsu from the photo posted online as well as your vivid, detailed description of her personality. On the way to pick her up, I started to wonder if three dogs would be too much. Matthew and I agreed to "walk away", despite our long drive, if there was any indication she may not fit into our home.
As soon as I saw Etsu in the salon, walking confidently up to Matthew and I with a little bone in her mouth, I knew we were taking her home. Since we have had her in our home, she has been a "joy", as her name suggests. She obviously has been well-socialized and has been very easy to train so far. She LOVES the snow and can hang with the rest of the pack on mid-range hikes!! As a matter of fact, she often outpaces us or stays up front with the leader dog. She is not a fan of the vacuum!
Etsu loves to cuddle and has fit right in to morning cuddle time. She is a lucky dog as she gets to sleep in our bed (she cries until we let her! extortion!) until the early morning when she needs to go outside. House training has been fairly simple and she has caught on quickly to "going" outside.
Etsu has a wonderful home and has brought much energy to our home.
Cheers!
Sunshine

Malissa,

Just a quick note to you about our wonderful addition to our family!  I have had Cocker’s for most of my life.  After loosing my last dog I found myself surfing the internet for pictures of cute Cocker puppies.  I originally was looking at Yorkies when I decided to google “mini Cockers”.  I found your website.

The pictures and thought of a mini version of the beautiful dogs that I loved made me all giddy (I know an adult, giddy over a dog, how silly).  My husband laughed at me most nights as I would copy and paste pictures of your cute pups and send them to him in emails.  He agreed to a few different factors when we were ready to get a dog again.  I surfed your site for the next year.  I read the different portions of your site on training and your puppy contract.  I appreciated the fact that you did not have multiple litters for sale at the same time and that you genuinely cared where your pups were going.  I had seen the stories about puppy mills and wanted to make sure that I was not talking with someone who was involved in that sort of business.  I really respected the fact that you have a spay/neuter portion of your contract.  The information you have about breeding dogs is very thought provoking to say the least!

Almost a year had passed since I had started looking at your site.  I received an email one day about a new litter you had.  When I went on to look at the pictures of the cute little newborns, there was a puppy that caught my eye.  He was the last one left out of Sky and Toby’s litter.  A little over 5 months old and so very beautiful!  He was named Rolo and black (I had wanted to get a black puppy) with the most exotic and awesome markings.  He was crate trained, almost house broken and just had that look of “love me!”.  Things worked out and after a visit to Arizona to see my inlaws, we were fortunate enough to have everything work out in a new addition to our family.  I felt like I was auditioning for an adoption of a human baby!  I was so nervous that you wouldn’t like us.  That made me respect and know that our decision to purchase a dog from your family was the right one.

He has made our family complete!  My husband, who thought that he didn’t really want a dog loves him to death and my son has a wonderful playmate.  I have a sweet companion that follows me around the house and who can’t wait to start playing in the morning.  If we ever think of getting another dog, I would be honored to have him (or her) come from Desert Bloom.  The coloring of your dogs are amazing and their temperament is wonderful!

Thank you for also being there for questions and concerns!  It really reiterates our decision to purchase from you.  Cohiba (Rolo) has made his place in our hearts and home for the rest of our lives!

Sincerely,

Andrea Lee ~ Colorado

Hi Malissa,
I just want to write and let you know that we are head over heels in love
with Ginger!  She is such a sweet puppy and we have had so much fun over
the last week getting to know her.  Don and I are also amazed at how good
she is.  Of course she likes to chew and play, but after getting out all
of her energy, she calmly goes into her crate and snoozes.  Housebreaking
is also going well.  It's pretty easy to read her body language and I take
her quickly out back to relieve herself.  As of today, she hasn't had one
accident inside!

I also want to pass along a compliment from my vet.  She mentioned that so
many puppies are brought in with parasites or ear mites and it was
refreshing to see such a well cared for dog.  You do an exceptional job
with your dogs and it clearly shows!

Thanks again for starting Ginger out in such a positive manner.  We really
appreciate the love and care that she received!  We feel very blessed to
have her as part of our family!

Dear Malissa,
When we lost our 18 year old Lhasa, we knew that she could never be replaced, but soon after, the timing was right for some new energy in the house!  The puppy pen in your shop is always my first stop, and on a particular day, I knew in my heart that I had found the right puppy for us.  ShiShi #1, AKA Scooby, quickly became an energetic, happy, loving, and yes, occasionally naughty part of our lives. He entertains us constantly with his athletic, and "cat like" behaviors.  As pictures have shown, he loves to jump into the bathroom sink in the morning to help us get ready for work, and for no apparent reason, he will break into what is fondly known as "the Scooby run", tearing through the house, throwing the nearest available toy into the air to catch, and to entertain himself with.  Several months later, sadly, we lost another one of our geriatric pack. We decided to get another puppy and after looking at several breeds, determind that we needed to look only around the corner to your salon, to find another "perfect" addition to our family.

We welcomed Baby Sadie last week, four pounds of adorable, rough and tumble energy.  her brother Scooby adores her, and her 15 year old brother Rocky tolerates her.  We are thrilled to have 2 ShiShi's in our family! Thanks Malissa, for the great additions to our family.   Molly, Glenn, Britt, Rocky, Scooby, and Baby Sadie (Mesa Arizona)

"Buying a puppy from Desert Bloom was the best decision my family ever made. Our little boy (Mini Cocker) Brownie came to us partially potty trained, healthy, super spunky, and fearless. He loves to be groomed, isn't afraid of the vets office and never knows the fear of a stranger. What a friendly well adjusted puppy. Malissa I commend you on all your long hours of socializing the puppies, grooming them and making sure they are suitable for families. We couldn't have asked for a better buddy for our three children, and our chocolate lab Mocha loves him too, they are inseparable!" ~Miguel F. ~San Diego CA.

"Our little snuggle Bunny (ShiShi Spaniel) is amazing. She is such a happy little girl. We take her to our store daily and everyone just adores her. We couldn't of asked for a better companion. ~Kim, Chandler Az.

"Malissa just wanted to tell you how much we love our Little Lady (Mini Cocker). She is so smart, we have taught her so many tricks. She loves everyone is healthy and such a joy to be with. Thanks so much for a great best friend." Ashley G. ~Phoenix Az.

"Rootie (mini cocker) is sprouting like a weed. What a wonderful little girl. The vet was impressed at how good her manners were and how healthy she is. We love her! Thanks Malissa for such a special little girl. ~Jackie R. ~ Las Cruses New Mexico

"We just love our little Sadie girl (mini cocker). She is so sweet and well mannered. She is the highlight of our day. Malissa's puppies are healthy, happy and the sweetest things around. I highly recommend her puppies to anyone thinking of purchasing a pet. ~Nancy V ~Chandler Az.

"Hi Malissa,
The baby (mini cocker) is doing great. He seems so smart already.  We finally
decided to name him Franklin, or Frankie for short.  We absolutely love him!
" Antonio L. Long Beach CA.

"Malissa we just love our little ShiShi Boy Bonno. Meanwhile, he's so fearless - and we love that. He climbs into the toy basket and loves all the different and new toys. He particularly loves a red Frisbee - and a few squeaky animals.
He's precious - and we adore him. We know it's going to take a while for the big sisters to adjust...but it's just a matter of time. He's undaunted by their growls of disapproval.
He follows Rob and me everywhere - and I think he's doing exceptionally well! Trisha R. ~Beverly Hills, CA.

"Hi Malissa, just wanted to let you know that Molly (mini cocker) has adjusted just fine and she is playing with her sister Princess (mini cocker) and they are having a ball together. We are very happy with both puppies that we adopted from you. Our groomer was amazed at how easy Princess was to groom for being such a small puppy. All your hard work paid off!  Thanks again, Tracy R. Scottsdale Az.

"In March 2007 my husband and I decided to add another pet to our home. After looking online we found the Poochini Pet Salon. Not only was I excited to find a new place to take my princess cocker spaniel Jasmine, but I had found a place with mini cocker spaniels. That week I went to the salon to meet Malissa and her puppies. I fell in love. Not only with the puppies but with the salon and everyone I met in the salon. I picked my puppy that day. Of course, he was not old enough to bring home yet, but Malissa let me come visit anytime I wanted to play with my new chocolate baby. We named him Maximus Rex, Max for short. He is clearly the bright star in my day, everyday and all the time. My female who is five was not so sure about the new baby, but shortly after they were playing all the time and napping together. I take my little babies to salon every four weeks to be groomed, you will not find a better caring place to have by your pets or have them cared for in every way. During a monthly grooming trip I fell in love with another puppy, half brother to my Max. Little did I know that in three weeks I would be back only to buy him and bring him home with my other two cockers. IF I had a bigger house, a bigger bed and larger yard I would buy as many puppies from Malissa and her family as my husband would allow!! They are healthy, well cared for and just overall the best personalities and temperament I have ever seen. ALL her puppies,,,including the little shishi spaniels ,,,OH MY GOSH,,,they are just the cutest little things, so small and so sweet. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that if you are thinking about purchasing a new puppy and are serious about care and love for your new pet, BUY ONE from Desert Bloom.. Any breed, Any Mom,,, These dogs are treated like royalty and part of the family from the moment they come into the world! " ~Jessica O~ Queen Creek Arizona

"Malissa is a pleasure to deal with. She very much cares about her puppies and the homes that they go to. My mini cocker puppy came very well mannered and partially potty trained. If you are looking for a puppy to love, I highly recommend buying from Malissa." Deb in Wisconsin

Malissa as you know, I have raised cockers for 20 years.  I saw my first Desert Bloom Puppy while surfing the net for a puppy and was intrigued with the idea of a miniature cocker.  My mom and I went from Dallas to Phoenix to pick Bella up.  The experience was wonderful, one of the best days I have ever had.   Your store is precious and I loved that the puppies were right our front.    Bella was so friendly and socialized.  She came home and fit right in with the other 3 full grown cocker girls.  They adopted her and all took a role in her life.  She is extremely smart and loves people, even kids which was important to me.  She is also great with other dogs.    It is obvious that from birth, you love these dogs, interact with them, and make them part of the family.    When I lost my oldest dog to cancer this year,  I immediately thought of you.  I checked your website and sure enough you had just had a liter of mini’s.  I fell in love with Poppy just as soon as I saw her picture.  I appreciate knowing that I am coming to pick up a healthy, well-adjusted, sweet puppy that will fit right in to my home.   I also appreciate the advice and suggestions you have given me in some of our conversations.    It maybe a couple of years,  but I will be back for a third puppy some day.   I would love to have a black and white one too.

See you next week,   I can’t wait.  My friends and family are all waiting to meet “little Poppy.”  I keep promising Bella that she can teach Poppy ball.    Thanks again,  for being willing to come to the airport on a holiday.

Blessings,

Maria Lummus

Desert Bloom babies are the ultimate in good breeding! The puppies are happy, healthy and always hilarious! They are so well socialized, it is hard to find something that would scare these little dare devils. By the time you take your new puppy home, it has been primed to take on a much bigger world with out any hesitation. ~Tamra Zigler

Hello Malissa,

I just want to let you know how wonderful it was to purchase a puppy from you.  I felt secure with your decisions and since I was in Washington and you were in Arizona, that was a big plus!  The puppy could not have been a better choice, in fact I doubt that I would have done any better on my own.  Your communication during the purchase process was more than I could ever have expected.  I even got a quick trip to Arizona to pick my baby up.  It was all exactly as you had said it would be.  That alone was worth more than I can say.  You made purchasing a puppy an experience that I won't soon forget.  So, I don't want to be 'gushy', be if it were left to me, I would endorse you as breeder of all breeders.  That being said, I'll close.

Susan Gibson

"Thank you Malissa for our new Japanese ShiShi Spaniel.  Our new puppy is healthy, already housebroken and such a joy to our family.  I was impressed with your nice and clean grooming shop and enjoyed getting to know the puppies in your parlor environment.  It was comforting to see the puppy’s mom and dad, and also meet your family.  It is clear to me that everyone involved with these puppies is caring and committed to providing the best environment for them, and ensure that they are placed with the right owner.  I also appreciate that you are always available to answer any questions we have.  Again, thank you for our new love, and the comfort in knowing that we found our puppy at just the right place." Shirley Pattengale (Tucson Az)

"We just love Charlie (mini cocker). He has the most beautiful coat, wonderful temperament and is just a love to everyone. We couldn't of asked for a better pet. All your help with grooming and training have been greatly appreciated." ~Jen M. ~Gilbert, Az.

"Our Bear (mini cocker) is just the greatest pet. He loves everybody and is so silly. We are so happy with him."~LeeAnn~CA.

Malissa's dogs are so well taken care of. They are not just house pets but members of her immediate family. They are always groomed so beautifully and always happy to meet a visitor who stops by. I have seen many dog breeders over the years and I have never known one that treats their dogs so well. From diet, exercise and training, Malissa's dogs are tops!  ~A. Bishop

Hi Malissa,

I just wanted to say hello and tell you how very happy my family and I are with our two darling puppies. We named the blue merle puppy Princess. She is just absolutely beautiful and just a darling sweetheart. Several people have actually offered to buy her from me. Her white marbling, extra long ears, and her different colored eyes make her quite extraordinary. My daughter named the red buff female Molly. She is so spunky and loveable. I am very pleased with the quality of the puppies. Both were clean and healthy and professionally groomed. There temperament is also quite wonderful. They are energetic and extremely well socialized. They took immediately to my German Sheppard and were not shy or timid when I had a Girl Scout meeting at my house of over 18 eight-year old girls! I appreciate how you focused on socializing the puppies by bringing them to your grooming salon so that they are played with all day long. Also, having 11 dogs of your own at home for them to play with certainly accounts for them immediately taking to my German Sheppard.

I appreciate how you immediately invited my family to your house so that we could get the pick of the litter. After seeing how you loved and cared for your dogs, and seeing the parents of the puppies, I knew that I would be purchasing a high quality puppy. In fact, my family couldn’t help but buy two puppies. We could not believe our luck that you had the blue merle available and she was ready to go home. I know that there are people out there wishing they had not waited to buy her!!

The only concern my family had in buying a puppy was that we were planning a vacation in a month’s time, and we did not want to purchase a puppy until after our cruise. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for offering to puppy-sit my two little girls while we are on our vacation. I know that they will be well cared for by their first puppy mom.

Also, thank you for sending us pictures and video of Molly while she was growing up. My daughter was checking our email everyday for new photos and video. It was a very special experience for her.

I would certainly buy another puppy from you. My only regret is that we don’t live close enough to your grooming salon to bring the girls in for their hair cuts and pink little bows!

Sincerely,

Tracy Richter, Scottsdale Arizona

"I just love my little silver boy (Mini Cocker) he is healthy, happy and so sweet. I recommend using Malissa as your source for a well adjusted healthy family pet."
Hi Malissa,  I'm not ignoring, but we are all having sooooo much fun!  I've named him SAM-e.  Yes, after the famous supplemental "cure all".  He is so cute and wonderful.  He has a GREAT personality and I love to watch him play.  He and Asher (my cat) seem to be getting along okay so far.  Asher has been my only animal for seven years.  So, his nose is a little 'bent', at least that's what he wants me to think.  I've caught them playing when Asher thinks I'm not around.  I've got him in a little sweater, because he seems to be shivering all the time.  We are having rain and the cooler weather seems much colder in the rain.  I've taken him out on his leash many times.  I think he's getting the idea.  There are fewer and fewer accidents.  I took him over to a friend's house this weekend.  She has 4 big cockers.....a buff, a black, a sable and a black and white party color.  Two boys and two girls all neutered or spade.  They are a riot and SAM-e fit right in even though he was less than a fourth they're size.  They all played together great and it was fun to watch.  Well, I must run, just wanted you to know how we are doing.

~Susan G. ~Seattle WA

Malissa,

We love Bella (Mini Cocker) Saturday was a wonderful day.  She cried for a few minutes when we left your shop,  then she settled in.  She was so precious.  She walked all over Sky Harbor Airport.  So many people stopped to pet her and talk to her.  Everyone thought she was so beautiful and that her name fits her. She is so well socialized and friendly (Thank you for that).   She slept through dinner at the airport, played some more, then slept so good on the plane we didn't hear a peep from her.   She is adapting wonderfully.  My grown girls have accepted her and and learning to play gently.  She is staying in a puppy pen during the day with her new best friend "Lilly"  a 8 month old miniature dachuand (my friends dog).  So Lilly is playing nurse maid and baby sitter, but they play so well together and then sleep together in the crate.  Bella slept so well Saturday night that I woke her up to check on her.  Last night she went outside one time at 2am but slept soundly from 9pm to 6 this morning.
She sleeps in her plane crate on the bed so she is near me but I won't roll on her and she can't fall off.  I just love her.  She is so full of energy and so cute.  She helped me work in the yard yesterday and then took a nap in my lap.  I have so missed a puppy in the house. I will send you some pictures of her travels this week.  It was great meeting you and your family.  I hope that I can send you more new moms as Bella and I go about.  What a great weekend.  Thank you so much.   Talk to you soon.....
